Duty First Consulting is proud to announce Mr. Kevin Waugh as its new Director of Veterans Affairs Programs. Mr. Waugh will be responsible for program management of Duty First’s growing business at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Waugh is an experienced Senior Manager, Analyst and Information Technology Architect with 24 years of successful transformation of businesses and government agencies through strategic consulting and large-scale system implementation. This includes over 7 years dedicated to the architecting, deployment, and management of the technology aspects of multiple large, global, enterprise resource planning systems and 6 years dedicated to the transformation and improvement of the processes and systems that deliver benefits to our nation’s Veterans. While working with VA, Mr. Waugh was responsible for a team of over 70 individuals engaged in a number of VA’s highest profile initiatives including the Chapter 33 GI Bill implementation, Veterans Relationship Management initiative, and Paperless Claims Processing programs. He is truly a valued business advisor to his clients and an extraordinary management and systems consulting leader.” Mr. Waugh joins the Duty First team from MITRE, a not-for-profit with expertise in systems engineering, information technology, operational concepts, and enterprise modernization, which manages federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs). As a Portfolio Manager and Lead Systems Engineer for MITRE’s Center for Connected Government (CCG), he provided management, analyst and systems engineering services at Veterans Affairs over the past six years. Other roles at MITRE included support of Customs and Border Protection, Department of Health and Human Services, Internal Revenue Service, Department of the Interior, and U.S. Census Bureau.

Duty First Consulting today announced that it has been awarded a follow-on contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide support for implementing its Talent Management System as it relates to the management of Senior Executives. This work includes systems analysis, re-engineering, and communications consulting services. DFC will continue to support the evolution of VA’s executive talent management system as VA achieves its transformational goals. This contract will result in improved processes, structures, and systems that will be deployed through VA’s enterprise Talent Management System.

Duty First Consulting LLC, a growing Virginia-based professional services company, today announced that it has been awarded a Mission Oriented Business Integration Services (MOBIS) Schedule contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The five-year contract, effective November 29, 2011, includes Special Item 874-1: Consulting Services and Special Item 874-7:Program and Project Management Services. Throughout this period, our size standard is certified as Small (<$7M). This contracting vehicle enables Federal, state and local government agencies convenient, direct access to Duty First Consulting’s management consulting professional services through a streamlined procurement process.
